Funk Family Reunion! Update #4

So we went to a family reunion up near Bear lake in Utah for Steve's family the 1-4 of July.
The way up: Well we had decided to stay the night part way but are pretty spontaneous people and decided we would see where life took us with a few places in mind. Steve was set on hot springs his friend had told him about that are right before Mesquite, Nevada (keep in mind it's JULY). We called and asked how hot it was there at night and it didn't sound so bad. We could see lightning flashing in the sky and prayed we wouldn't get struck. Did I mention we were camping. So OK I'm up for an adventure. Sure what's one night, right?
First off we got lost on the dark, dark middle of Nevada desert back roads. Then when we finally arrived we could hear the coyotes howling very near by and some very unsettling animal noises that we just couldn't place. Then after we made our way across the empty, dark campground to the restrooms we noticed all the beware signs. Beware of the wild animals, make sure you close the door behind you when entering and leaving. OK what kind of animal encounters have happened in these restrooms I wondered. Was there one lurking inside waiting to attack the kids and I. Steve had to enter the forsaken Ladies room with us. The ladies room was a place that he promised to never return after the accidental encounter with it in Solvagne. But this time it was a must. I was being quite the chicken and he had to play hero whether he wanted to or not. Restrooms clear! Feeeew! We all huddled close on the way back to the campsite, pitched a tent in the dark, and tried to get comfortable in the sweltering heat and humidity. Those thunder clouds never hovered over head but between the hot springs near by and the storm the hot dry desert turned to hot and humid. We were miserable. Between creepy animal noises and the heat most of us tried to sleep while removing more and more layers of what we had on trying to stay appropriate since the tent was just mesh on a good portion of the top. The kids were so uncomfortable throughout the night Steve and I kept getting jabbed and kicked or better yet laid on top of by a sweaty baby or toddler. That was the start of our adventure.
Below: Us exhausted and stinky the next morning trying to make breakfast
without the utensils we forgot and trying to clean up. Emmitt still in his sleep suit.

Okay so the unsettling animal noise we couldn't place came from this guy below and his friends .
Can you see the toad in the water?

Beautiful Cache Valley and it's beautiful wild life.

A day at Bear Lake:
Jaron and Eliza both experienced their first rides on a wave runner this summer while Emmitt played in the sand and sat with aunt Debbie (which is amazing because I can't get him to sit for a moment unless there is food involved). The kids had so much fun playing in the shore water which looked pretty gross.

Girls Activity: Tea Party
All I have to say is I believe it must have been Grammy, who is Miss Proper (in a good way), who put this activity together . See Sidney holding her pinkies up the way she has been instructed, yes by Grammy. We were also told we had to have some sort of hat for the occasion.

Boys Activity: Shooting guns
We had a huge Cousins Birthday Party where all the cousins brought gifts for one other cousin. Most of Steve's siblings all live far from each other so this was an opportunity for all the cousins to celebrate each others birthdays together in one big bang. Eliza found one of the bubble guns someone got as a gift.

The Big Race
The start
This is where
Jaron confuses our cheers for him as directions to run to us. It cost him the race.

Emmitt helps out with the finish line.
Papa
"accidentally" trips and falls as the little guys catch up.

Outdoor Fun!

Smores with family and barefoot wall walks.

And a Little Tumble!
The way Steve tells it Emmitt wasn't at all effected by this. It gives me the heebie jeebies.

We are expecting! Update #3

Baby #4 is on it's way. Okay I am posting this for two reasons. 1. For any of you who didn't know already and 2. So When I 'm old and gray I can remember how I found out the sex of my fourth baby.
Things I want to remember:
We found out mid to late June that we were pregnant.
First test negative, couple days later positive.
SO EXCITED!!!!
Jaron spilled the beans to my mom who I was going to wait to tell until we were out of her house (our house being in escrow at the time) by saying "Mommy I'm so excited for the new baby" as he gave my tummy a kiss and with that my mom turned around in the kitchen eyes wide and asked "what?!?" or exclaimed I'm not really sure. I just knew her eyes were wide.
Hoped to make it through our summer trip to Utah with out getting "morning sickness" which for me is more like all day, everyday, even in the middle of the night sickness. I did! YEAH!
I then had the joys of pregnancy find me on our beach camping trip. BOO!!!! Hiss!!! Not to mention we were tent camping and I had a pinched nerve in my lower back that was killing me.
I was doomed up until about 16 weeks when it finally subsided. Lost 10 lbs! GOOD! Gained it all back and then some to date. BAD! My mom would have found out Jaron or no Jaron before I had planned to tell her I was so sick. Steve and her saved my life this summer with the kids big time. My mom should honestly receive super mom award for all her help over summer.

Above : My first ultra sound. 8-04-09 I didn't get t o hear the heart beat at this point but I did see it beating. I was so happy the baby looked good!

Well the two ultrasound pictures we have of the baby it is on it's head. That's my baby!

IT'S A GIRL!!!!!!
So with Jaron and Eliza I found out their sex before they came. But with Emmitt I didn't. I had a boy, I had a girl, and I always wanted to find out at delivery. So we agreed we would be surprised with Emmitt. I loved it. It was just different. Just being so excited for whatever may come into our family. So I wanted to be surprised at delivery while Steve wanted to know what it was in advance but told me that it would be alright if we waited to find out. Well the softy that i am for Steve had the ultra sound tech print out a pic of her stating the sex of the baby for my husband but told her I didn't want to know. Then I surprised Steve with it on the conditions he wouldn't let the sex slip out in conversation, or while name searching, that he wouldn't let me find the picture, or trick him in to telling me. Well for any of you who know me really well know i have a bad past of ruining surprises. Steve let it slip that night. OK I tricked him but he still let it out. He couldn't handle it for a few hours, he would have never lasted months.
I am so excited for baby girl #2 to come settle the score!!!
(Yes we still call her baby girl number two, 9 weeks left or so and we still haven't the slightest clue as what to name her. Any suggestions can be left in the comment section.)

Disneyland x 3: Update #2

So since Steve was never home for the past 2 years (for a good reason of course) the kids and I got Disneyland passes to entertain ourselves on those weeks we just needed to get out and do something fun. My mom bought one as well so she could help me out. Well we got our moneys worth. We went three times within a couple of weeks.
6~2-09
My sister Sarah who lives in Ohio had her friends Michelle and Alysa out from Australia. Well Sarah has a baby the same age as Emmitt which limits the activities she can do with her friends. Well we all ended up going and it worked out perfect. Michelle and Alysa were able to go on the bigger rides while Sarah and I entertained the kiddos.

Okay so I'm not exactly sure when we went on this trip to Disneyland with my brother Daniel's family but the kids all loved being at Disneyland together. All I know is that they were in Ca late May, early June. We were supposed to go the next day with them as well to Cal. Adventure but in the afternoon the first day Jaron got a fever and so we didn't make it.

6~15~09
Okay so my friend Kristin had her California adventure pass still left from her free birthday ticket so we met up before the blackout dates started for summer. I also brought along my sweet niece Gwen who loves Disneyland. Jaron and her have always had a special bond. Kristin took the older two (Gwen and Jaron) on the rides the little ones couldn't go on. It turned out to be a really fun day, Jaron even got picked for Jedi training camp at the other park after Kristin left.

Oh and I thought this guy was just funny! (*note usually I do not take pictures of or add
random people's pictures to my blog but for him I made an exception)

That's A LOT of Disneyland!

Starting to Update!

Our first beach trip of the summer!
6~6~09
All my siblings were in town for the first time in a long time. Most of us were able to enjoy a day in the sun (and wind) down at Huntington Beach.

Above: Jaron playing in the water with his dad, uncle and cousins Paige and Orrin, cousin Samantha sits and eats sandy Cheetos.

Above: Cousin Orrin held onto the umbrella to make sure it wasn't going to blow away. The group of us including my sisters two friends from Australia minus my mom.
All the happy cousins who came

Eliza has sunscreen in her eyes and is worn out from all the sun while Emmitt tackles a bag of Cheetos and takes over the chair.

A quick, windy family pic. before everyone leaves. Jaron covering his cousin Paige with lots of sand.
